How to protect your Filemanager and Directories!

Every one has seen an index or directory that has only images, mids, or personal property that belongs to others. There are no images displayed, or mids playing, just a long list of them with names only!

These are the personal files of another web site builder that someone gained access to. I`ll clarify this by saying, any of these that are sent to someone else, but not from the owner, can be concidered as being taken from someones filemanager without their permission!

Our policy has always been and will continue to be, that no directories or personal files should be mass mailed unless it`s by the owner of those files or with the owners permission!

The purpose of this tutorial is not to teach you how to get into someones personal files, but rather to show you how to protect your own files from prying eyes!

What you can do to prevent this, is to have an index.html page in every directory that you have. Also, it is advised to place one in your filemanager, unless your homepage is titled index.html..!

NOTE: all letters in index.html should be in lower case letters.

You will see what I use to stop unauthorized entry! It will bring you right back to where ever you were prievious to clicking on it! (which, in this case, is here)
